Synopsis: Maria (Anne Hathaway) lost her parents at a very young age, and has been brought up by her three paternal uncles, namely Michael (Tommy Lee Jones), who believes in exercise and keeping physically fit; Gregory (Jon Voight) who is very religious; and Samuel (Billy Crystal) who is ultra modern, and gay, much to the horror of his brothers.

Maria has now come of age, so the three uncles decide that she must get married. Darren (Heath Ledger) loves Maria, and shares this with his parents (Martin Sheen & Holland Taylor). When Darren's dad goes to the three uncles, he is uncertain whether Darren can meet the demands of all the three uncles, that is can Darren be physically fit, religious, and ultra modern, all the same time? Maria decides to assert herself and sets out on a trip to Switzerland on her own. Darren also decides take the tour, and together they meet and fall in love. When they come back to the U.S., they still face the same obstacle that is three of them - Maria's uncles, who will never accept Darren as he is unless he confirms to their ways.

Darren and Maria devise a plan to win over each of the uncle´s hearts individually by having Darren pretend to be the son-in-law they've always wanted.

What the Press would say:

For a fun and stress-free time, this is the movie for you. This movie is filled with loads of comic scenes which will leave you wanting for more.

Adam Shankman’s biggest plus point is that his casting is perfect. The real stars of this film are Jon Voight, Billy Crystal, Tommy Lee Jones, and Jack Black (as "Airport" - the tour guide). These are four seasoned actors who are well-adept at comedy and who excellently portray their exaggerated characters! Heath Ledger portrays commendable comic timing. Anne Hathaway looks great and also does a great job on her part - with some excellent chemistry in her scenes with Heath.

The script is definitely great and Michael Arndt deserves kudos for it. Cinematography is great and Switzerland will surely thank them for portraying their country in a lovely light.

Altogether, this is a great movie not to be missed. With witty dialogue and great rapport among the cast, you will be leaving the cinema with a big grin on your face.
